A Strategic Vision poll released today shows Rick Santorum with his lowest job approval and highest disapproval numbers yet. 38% of respondents approve of Rick's performance, while 48% disapprove.
Since October 6th, Rick's approval rating has dropped 5 percentage points and his disapproval rating has risen by 7 points. Here are the numbers:
14. Do you approve or disapprove of United States Senator Rick Santorum's job performance?
Approve 38%
Disapprove 48%
Undecided 14%
If anyone else did that, it'd be abuse of a corpse.
THAT is a mandate.
I agree - - The problem I have is that he made this story public. Go weep all you want, do whatever you need to, IN PRIVATE. He has used the death of his baby as a political talking point.
And that is unforgivable. Plus, he's a putz.
That said, what a schmuck. As one who is represented by the guy, it will be a pleasure to send him home to Virginia next year.
That being said, I'm no supporter of RS.
Yeah, we get it. The story is disturbing. The story is morbid. We can't imagine doing it ourselves. And we certainly can't imagine showing children a dead fetus would be anything but traumatic.
Clearly the way to make yourself look reasoned and genteel by comparison is to constantly raise the painful memory of a child lost in birth. And, as some others have done, to joke about it.
That said, I'll be happy to see little Ricky down at the unemployment office.
I think his people are looking at 38/48 and saying "this could be a lot worse."

one of the greatest minds of the 13th century and a 21st century candidate it's only natural they'd choose to look backward.
I'd like to think Santorum is saddened by this, but apparently not. He has made it into a talking point, just like he does with the abortion issue. Even in death he can't respect little babies who didn't get a chance to live, whether because of abortion, stillbirth, etc.
Actually, his wife was told that the kid wouldn't live = early on. She was also told that there was a good chance that it could endanger her life.
But, good Opus Dei Catholics that they are, they didn't care if their other kids were left without a mother.
He also had "baby" put on the death cert, when it was a fetus.
He's just sick.
But, good Opus Dei Catholics that they are, they didn't care if their other kids were left without a mother."
A weirdly totalitarian attitude you show there. The Santorums can't make their own assessment of how to balance the risks in their lives? I'm sure they cared, but the value of being with the child until it died naturally superceded that. As far as many of us are concerned, that's fine and the rest of the world should butt out. Again, I'm no supporter of Rick but on this he deserves to be left alone.
